October 21, 2013 – Joanna Ruiz, a breast cancer survivor who had her breast reconstructive surgery at Westside Surgical Hospital appeared today on FOX 26’s morning news show. Interviewed by award-winning journalist, Rita Garcia, the single mother relied on her support system from her co-workers, her friends and her family to get through her treatment and recovery. Ruiz, who does not have a family history of breast cancer, encourages women to get a mammogram on a regular basis even if they don’t think they are at risk. By sharing her story, she is undoubtedly helping other women find courage and strength.
