Westside Surgical Hospital and Breast Center held its first Between the Girls Education and Wellness event on May 11, 2016. This event was created by Jamesia McDonald, Certified Breast Nurse Navigator to bring the women of Greater Houston together for education on mammograms, breast cancer, support and financial options. A mix and mingle was hosted by Sacha Simmons of The Serenity Healing Center. SHC provides oncology massage as well as nutritional education and services to those impacted by cancer whether they are currently in treatment or thriving in survivorship. Stop the Silence – National African American Breast Cancer Walk Westside Surgical Hospital and Breast Center was pleased to join members of the Sister’s Network for their 6th annual “Stop the Silence” walk, to raise awareness for breast cancer and encourage early detection among the African American community. This landmark center will offer patients access to stereotactic breast biopsies, a 3D mammogram unit (breast tomosynthesis), 3D ultrasound, and bone density testing. This advanced imaging, combined with the hospital’s robust reconstructive surgery program sets the hospital apart and offers the ideal environment for early detection and treatment.
